Football Fight - Referee Takes Out Green Bay Linebacker Nick Barnett
NFL referee Jim Quirk takes down the Green Bay Packers’ linebacker Nick Barnett.
Blow-by-blow Recap:
-Chicago Bears running back Jason McKee drives up the middle and gets a first down.
-As the players stand up, a scuffle breaks out and it looks like it may turn into an honest-to-goodness football fight.
-As players pile onto the mass, referee Jim Quirk grabs Green Bay linebacker Nick Barnett from behind.
-The umpire pulls Barnett over, onto his back.
-Linebacker Barnett jumps up, looking to start another football fight, and other players and another referee hold him back.
-Jim Quirk puts his cap back on, secretly pleased with himself.
-The NFL fined Quirk a game check–totalling $8,150–for inappropriate contact with GB’s Nick Barnett. (It was worth it though, in PSF’s humble opinion. Sweeter than a real football fight.)
